A Little Bug in a Big World

Random: Love Affairs

That’s right.

I tend to have torrid love affairs in my life.  For a few years, it was bath products.  You couldn’t keep me off of the Lush website.  I ran group orders on the Lush forum for UK Lush orders (because they had stuff we couldn’t get at the US site) and for their sister company BNever. And damn it, I smelled goooooooood.  I still have some bath bombs and bubble bars from those days.  And don’t let me fool you, I’m still the first person to add Lush to the list of “To Dos” when we’re in a city with a store.  It wasn’t JUST one great bath company though.  I was a huge money maker for Primal Elements, Darkswan Indulgences, Villainess and a little start up that I can’t remember the name of now.  I’m sure there were others.  It’s taken YEARS (I know, I know) to work my way through all the soaps, shampoos, scrubs and whatever elses I could get my hands on during that time.  And damn, I still smell good!

With a little overlap, I also had (I say had, but it’s probably more like still have) a huge love of indie perfumers.  I really love to smell good, apparently.  Black Phoenix and Blooddrop are probably my most expensive love affairs.  I have enough perfume oil to bathe in, for the rest of my life, and I still might never run out.  I actually go out of my way to NOT investigate Etsy for perfume, because it would just lead to more trouble.  The thing is, I can’t physically wear commercial perfumes.  All the fakeness in them sends my allergies into a hissy fit.  They just don’t even smell good to me.  Perfume oils are different.  They’re blends, without all the bullshit.  I loooves them.

My two latest obsession are intertwined.  I can almost blame one on the other.  Shockingly, I’ve never been much of a makeup girl.  I wear it, but I had something like 4 eye shadows.  An acquaintance through an internet group changed that forever.  Sweet Libertine has turned me into an eyeshadow whore.  No shit, I’m up to 50+ colors (I have to keep track for our bonus program!).  The REASON I need 50 eye shadows?  I use them for cosplay.  This is my newest obsession – the new pit that I pour what little extra money there is into.  The sprite darter makeup trials helped me justify something like 15 colors.  I used more than 10 for the final product, which I think is a fair number.  AND, I get to add all those wonderful colors to my personal collection – for every day use!  How much fun is that!

What will be the next obsession?  Who knows.  I’m pretty happy with the skills I’m developing from cosplay.  I’m currently working on some corsets to sell through etsy.  We’ll see where it all takes me.  Maybe nowhere.  Maybe I’ll move on to something else.  Maybe, this will be the one obsession that manages to hold my attention and I can make something out of it.  Maybe.

Happee Birfday to me

Yup!  Just like I said.

For my birfday, a present to me.  I’ve attempted the 365 project before, but I’ve never managed to stick with it more than a few days.  I think it’s something I really want to do, so I’m going to enlist Logan to help me stick with it this time.  We’ll see.  I won’t be joining one of the 365 groups on flickr, because the liklihood of actually being able to upload my picture daily is pretty slim – this is what always got me before.  But since I’m doing it for me, I think I’ll be able to get the pictures taken, even if I only manage to get them uploaded once a week.  We’ll see, I think it will be fun.

In other news, I’ve been knitting my butt off.  I’m half way through my 25 skein challenge.  I don’t know if I’ll make it, but I think I’ll be close.

I also finished my second Lady Eleanor today!  She’s gorgeous.  Well, she’s not really done – I have to weave in the ends and decide if we’re doing fringe or tassels, but whatever, the bulk of the knitting is done, so YAY!

Nothing to report

It just been quiet around here. So I’ve been quiet too.

I don’t know what happened on my Phoenix. Grr. Aside from being bored stiff when working the body repeat, I’ve had absolutely no trouble with this pattern at all. Until last week. Problem 1 was not of my doing. The dogs knocked a bunch of stitches out. I took a couple of days to drop and reknit the section, with limited but acceptable success. I don’t know what happened on the last pattern row I did though. Lots of mistakes…so I’ve kinda been avoiding it.

Other than that, there’s really nothing. I’m boring, I know.

I did go through and download a bunch of random pics from my camera the other day though. This is my favorite. He’s so cute! It’s from his first trip out to the woods.

Logan and I had a good day that day. We played in the creek. Bubba made friends with a pack of rabid labs. It was fun.

What else can I hunt up?

The sunflowers finally bloomed – I love the fringy ones.

And then of course there’s a mammoth one…they’re not kidding. The think has a stem the size of a tree trunk and the flower is bigger than my head!

And I think that’s all I know right now 🙂
