Big update post at the end of the long weekend!

Random: Love Affairs

That’s right.

I tend to have torrid love affairs in my life.  For a few years, it was bath products.  You couldn’t keep me off of the Lush website.  I ran group orders on the Lush forum for UK Lush orders (because they had stuff we couldn’t get at the US site) and for their sister company BNever. And damn it, I smelled goooooooood.  I still have some bath bombs and bubble bars from those days.  And don’t let me fool you, I’m still the first person to add Lush to the list of “To Dos” when we’re in a city with a store.  It wasn’t JUST one great bath company though.  I was a huge money maker for Primal Elements, Darkswan Indulgences, Villainess and a little start up that I can’t remember the name of now.  I’m sure there were others.  It’s taken YEARS (I know, I know) to work my way through all the soaps, shampoos, scrubs and whatever elses I could get my hands on during that time.  And damn, I still smell good!

With a little overlap, I also had (I say had, but it’s probably more like still have) a huge love of indie perfumers.  I really love to smell good, apparently.  Black Phoenix and Blooddrop are probably my most expensive love affairs.  I have enough perfume oil to bathe in, for the rest of my life, and I still might never run out.  I actually go out of my way to NOT investigate Etsy for perfume, because it would just lead to more trouble.  The thing is, I can’t physically wear commercial perfumes.  All the fakeness in them sends my allergies into a hissy fit.  They just don’t even smell good to me.  Perfume oils are different.  They’re blends, without all the bullshit.  I loooves them.

My two latest obsession are intertwined.  I can almost blame one on the other.  Shockingly, I’ve never been much of a makeup girl.  I wear it, but I had something like 4 eye shadows.  An acquaintance through an internet group changed that forever.  Sweet Libertine has turned me into an eyeshadow whore.  No shit, I’m up to 50+ colors (I have to keep track for our bonus program!).  The REASON I need 50 eye shadows?  I use them for cosplay.  This is my newest obsession – the new pit that I pour what little extra money there is into.  The sprite darter makeup trials helped me justify something like 15 colors.  I used more than 10 for the final product, which I think is a fair number.  AND, I get to add all those wonderful colors to my personal collection – for every day use!  How much fun is that!

What will be the next obsession?  Who knows.  I’m pretty happy with the skills I’m developing from cosplay.  I’m currently working on some corsets to sell through etsy.  We’ll see where it all takes me.  Maybe nowhere.  Maybe I’ll move on to something else.  Maybe, this will be the one obsession that manages to hold my attention and I can make something out of it.  Maybe.

Yup.  Here’s one of the first (of several) projects I’m attempting for 2011.  Last year, I made it to the end of April before I gave up on 365.  I was trying to do the 365 self portraits thing…and I got SO.BORED.  This year, I’m just opting for 1 picture a day.  I think I can manage that…though I have left my pictures to the last minute lately.

Okay, so first, I’m going to completely ignore the fact that I haven’t posted here in over a year.  Just shuddup.

For 2010, I took on a few personal projects, with variable success.

I attempted project 365 (the original, 365 self-portraits).  Total fail.  I made it several months in, so I actually did really well FOR ME…but yeah, fail.  There were some bright spots…

RIP Project 365.  April 28, 2010.

It wasn’t all bad though!  I started working with a group of Ravelers to complete 10 shawls in 2010 – and that one I DID manage to complete!

So…I have a few things planned for 2011…and wanted to resurrect the blog as part of that.  Maybe…just maybe I can get through the year successfully again!

I know it’s been a bit since I posted…and since I accidentally left my glasses in the bedroom (where Logan is currently sleeping) this is going to be a short entry.

The week(end) of the 4th was a little insane.  Bec’s mom decided to come visit last minute – which was fantastic.  But 6 days of 4 people and 5 dogs in this house was a little harrowing.  Surprisingly, or maybe not, I was okay with the number of dogs.  I just decided after Amelia moved out that we would never have 4 people in the house for any length of time LOL.  I love visitors though, so I cope 🙂  (Wendy, if you’re reading this expel the thoughts from your mind!  I’m looking forward to you and Marty being here!)

Anyway, 4th was good.  We did a big BBQ with family and friends.  It was good…crazy…but good.

Other than that…I dunno.  Things have just been…meh.  I dunno.  I’m stressed about work…which means I’m in avoidance mode and I managed to find a way to not work last weekend even though I really needed to.  I dunno.  I’m feeling lost right now and I don’t know why.  Poor Logan is getting it taken out on him.

I’ll get better – I always do.

I had such a good day today.  Nope, didn’t do anything special, just hung out with my mommy.

Logan and I stayed up too late last night playing WoW (I know, shuddup) so we got up pretty late…but instead of being upset that I lost 2 hours, I was really content to stay in bed and snuggle a few more minutes (how very non-PMS of me).  When we did finally get up I had to call mom and tell her we would be late.

So, Logan spent the day working on the new ramp for Gram and mom and I went out and ran errands.  Like I said, nothing special.  But it was so nice to spend most of the day just mom and I.  I love Logan, I love Heather and I love Gram…but sometimes it’s nice to just have mom to myself again.
